While I'm best know for my child portraits and more recently wedding coverage, fashion photography is something that I'm interested in but have not taken the time to really pursue.  Recently, an opportunity fell into my lap to photograph alongside Kevin Goss-Ross for the Kingsley Heath fashion shoot, and now - well - the match has been lit.

Need a fashion photographer?? PICK ME, PICK ME!

Shooting at Tala Game Reserve was a dream; African sunrise, giraffe in the background, beautiful people and relaxed clients.  Although quite a pressured day - with a whole heap of shots and clothing changes to get through...we worked with a group of really cool and like-minded people and that made it a world of fun!  The make up and hair was done by Kezia Myatt from Make-Me-Up. I just wish the photographers got the make over too...we certainly need it after a long day.

Having the chance to watch other photographers in action and being exposed to different areas in the industry, gives one the opportunity to really fine-tune their trade.  I am still unsure of which area in photography I am best suited, but am allowing myself the time to figure it out as I go along - and am open to any opportunity that might come my way.  Maybe one day I'll figure out what my 'thing' is, or maybe I won't - and rather cover all areas of photography that find me...who knows?  For now, I feel that I am in the right place at the right time.

Kingsley Heath have stores in Dubai and in various parts of South Africa.   Be sure to check them out and support a local brand...

Behind the scenes.....

Do you know how many hours and HOURS a photographer can spend at their desk editing photos and running their business?  I can't give you a figure, I'd rather not know - but it's A LOT.  My friends come over some evenings for social visits - like normal humans do - you know, for chats/coffee/dinner - and have banned me from opening my laptop.

Yup, it's that bad!

Well, I wouldn't remain sane if it weren't for music.  I listen to Jango where I have created a radio station with music that makes my heart happy.  Feel free to tune in and share a bit of my joy.

Otherwise, here's a list of some favourites for anyone interested:
Mumford and Sons
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Alabama Shakes
The Freelance Whales
The Tallest Man on Earth
The Naked and Famous
Kongos (Originally South African)
December Streets (South African - YEY!)
James Vincent McMorrow
Florence and the Machine
Ellie Goulding
Bon Iver

....and that's just to list a few.

Today, this is the song that is keeping me going....

I mention the Bean Green Coffee Roastery a lot - that's because it's my 2nd home and owned by one of my dearest friends. Mel, has joined forces with the guys behind The Bomb Surf magazine and together they have come up with The Coffee Mag

In their words: "This website and magazine aims to be a platform for communication between the obsessive coffee professionals and the avid coffee drinkers, nurturing a growing coffee community and culture."

Awesome right?!

I am very excited to be offering my services as a photographer to the magazine/website - and my first shot at this was during the Latte Art Competition.

What fun - coffee AND photography, two of the things that I love most in the world.

At the Factory cafe: A barista at the end of a long day

When I met Elisabeth and Emmanuel before their wedding, the ‘love glow’ surrounding them each and their little world was massively apparent and quite enticing!! I could not contain the girly side of me and started with the questions…how did you meet, when did you know that you were in love, how did you propose? etc etc.

The story is this: Elisabeth came to South Africa from Norway as a foreign student and fell head over heels for one of the dark and handsome lecturers at UKZN. After figuring out that this stallion of a man was lecturing Political Science…a keen interest in this subject arose.

Without going into too much detail, a friendship and love like non-other was formed and here we have it – A WEDDING! Of course we HAD to shoot on the UKZN campus…the place where they met, got to know each other and fell in love. Sigh ♥

E&E, I love your story and I thoroughly enjoyed photographing your wedding. Wishing you all the best for the future. Xx
